Cameron Kirsten’s most recent role was merely a creation of Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) drug-fueled fantasies, making it difficult to fathom how or why he could ever resurface; after all, he’s dead.
Linden Ashby is ready for a potential return to The Young and the Restless, possibly stepping into the shoes of a brand-new character.
His portrayal of Cameron recently concluded as Sharon finally let go of the version of him she had conjured to navigate her harrowing situation.
While it was certainly odd for her to summon the man she despised—who she even stabbed to death—it ultimately made a twisted sort of sense.
Cameron was the brutally honest ghost who led Sharon into a chaotic scene in Daniel Romalotti’s (Michael Graziadei) apartment, pushing her into a cover-up and framing Daniel. Yet, it was also his unwavering strength that she relied on to face the turmoil.
When it came to light that she had been drugged with PCP and was innocent of the murder, it was Cameron she called upon once more while trapped in the sewer. This time, he helped her confront the reality of her situation and urged her to fight for her survival.
In a surprisingly poignant moment, Sharon bid farewell to the blood-stained, chaotic illusion, culminating in a tender kiss on the cheek from him; the key takeaway?
As Sharon battled through these harrowing challenges for her family, freedom, and sanity, she was also, in a sense, processing the deep-seated trauma from having taken her abuser’s life.
From the audience’s perspective, a truly one-of-a-kind, albeit strange, connection unfolded that we couldn’t help but adore. Thanks to the undeniable chemistry between Ashby and Case, many fans found themselves hoping for Cameron’s return to see them as a couple.
However, given the brutal history of abuse and the fact that he’s as dead as a character can be in a soap opera, that scenario is unlikely.
Yet, there remains a tantalizing possibility that could pave the way for an Ashby/Case reunion on screen. Perhaps a lookalike, or a long-lost good twin instead of an evil twin?
After his latest exit from Young & Restless, Ashby shared some intriguing thoughts with SOD about a potential comeback to the soap that fans adore.
When asked if he felt fortunate to be considered for a return, he candidly remarked, “Not many get that chance,” followed by a chuckle, “And now I’ll be, you know, his brother.” Is this a possibility, he was asked; with a playful hint, he said, “We’ll see.”
While it might seem far-fetched for Sharon to develop feelings for someone resembling Cameron, it’s a twist we could entertain.
Especially considering the resolution she reached with her memories of him, and It’s no secret that soaps are known for their wild surprises.
