Y&R Nathan Owens On Shocking “Damian” Reveal & Holden’s Link To A Genoa City Leading Lady

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers imply that fans were shocked during the Monday, February 3 episode when it was revealed that the “Damian King” everyone was introduced to, is not in fact, “the real” Damian King.

Now viewers realize that Holden has been impersonating his Damian King (Jermaine Rivers) this entire time.

Actor Nathan Owens, who plays Holden, recently spoke with Soap Opera Digest (SOD) about the huge plot twist, and what’s in store for his character.

Nathan Owens – He Knew The Entire Time

When Owens arrived at the Y&R’s set for his first day of filming, he knew there was a big twist on the horizon.

While he initially auditioned for the role of Damian, when he got the job on the soap, the show told them they were going a “different route” with casting the character and presented another option: being Damian’s right-hand man, which Owens was more than happy to accept.

As he started preparing for the Hoden role, Owens tells SOD, “It was clear that I was going to be disguised as, or acting as if I was Damian, for a bit, to kind of suss things out, suss out the situation. And I was like, ‘Okay, here we go!’”

Owens worked on becoming a character who wasn’t the person people thought he was. The actor noted, “… I thought a lot about, ‘Okay, what would this boss [Damian] be like, and how would I act as if I was Damian in front of Nate Hastings versus who I am as Holden?’ I was like, ‘Maybe I’ll put on a little bit more of a swag, a bit more of a tone in my voice,’ stuff like that.”

Fans Will Get To See More Of Holden In The Weeks To Come

During his SOD interview, Owens revealed that fans will see Holden come alive now, as more of his and Damian’s story and history is uncovered. Owens stated “Holden is a very, very charismatic man. He is … I don’t want to say a Lothario, but he’s a charming dude and he’s very single.”

He added, “… he has quite the interest in alcohol [laughs]. He’s definitely worldly and cultured, but there is a bit of a mysterious darkness to this character that I want to tap into even more as the story progresses.”

In addition, Owens tells SOD that he’s gotten very close to the “real” Damian, Jermaine Rivers. He stated that he wondered for a while who would play the character and when Rivers entered the equation, the two hit it off right away.

Owens also noted how he’s able to “breathe again” now that the Damian reveal has taken place on the soap, as it was challenging to keep the secret; especially when talking to anyone about storylines.

Still, what can fans expect from Holden in the future? Owens drops a clue by saying that his character has a past with a certain lady in town. Who could that be? Fans will have to tune in to find out!
