As fans catch up with the characters of Severance season 1, season 2 has surpassed Ted Lasso as Apple TV+’s most-watched series.
Apple TV+ is already famous for its many sci-fi series, but season 2 of Severance has attracted a huge audience, making the show surpass Ted Lasso as the streaming channel’s most-watched show. Meanwhile, Apple TV+ has been widely promoting the second season of the series, including Apple CEO Tim Cook filming an elaborate promo for the return of the series after three years. Meanwhile, a month after the show’s January 17 season 2 launch, the company, known for closely guarding its viewership details, has raised the curtain a little on the show’s performance.
Severance season 2 breaks Apple TV+ records

Deadline quotes the streamer saying Severance has broken Apple TV+ records, launching as the platform’s No. 1 series in history, based on the number of unique viewers from January 17 through February 17, 2025.
Moreover, the return of Severance to Apple TV+ has also been a major driver of sign-ups, leading to a more than 126 percent increase in new subscribers between January 1-19, 2025, vs. December 1-19, 2024. This includes the streamer’s January 3-5 free weekend, where non-subscribers were welcome to sample the platform’s originals, which timed to the Severance season 2 debut.
More viewers than ever from top markets

Apple reports that through season 1 and half of season 2, Severance has already amassed more viewers than any other Apple TV+ series including three seasons of Ted Lasso, becoming the No. 1 most-watched series globally, with top markets including the US, UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Germany, France, Mexico and Spain.
Matt Cherniss, head of programming, at Apple TV+ said in a statement:
We have long admired Ben’s extraordinary gift for original and immersive storytelling, and with he and Dan at the helm, Severance has proven to be an extraordinary success and a cultural phenomenon.
The series has become an obsession for audiences all over the world and we can’t wait for people to continue to experience all the masterful twists and turns as the rest of the season unfolds.
