The Princess of Wales has a lot of royal work waiting for her to dive into as she continues to slowly ease her way back this New Year. For the first time ever, the Princess of Wales has been given the power to grant royal warrants, and you can already guess that this power is not a trifling one.

Princess Kate To Join Queen Camilla To Grant Royal Warrants In A Historic Move

While the palace is yet to officially announce the timeline as to when Kate Middleton will fully come into her new role, the royal will become the first Princess of Wales since Mary of Teck to grant royal warrants whenever she does.

This is usually an honor afforded to the highest ranking royals and dates back to the time of Lord Chamberlain in the 15th century.

The power to appoint a member of the royal household the right to grant royal warrants remains with the monarch and the monarch alone.

However, it’s a no-brainer that the Princess of Wales should be chosen for the prestigious role since her influence in the UK fashion industry is phenomenal.

She draws massive attention to any brand she chooses to wear and her fashion has been a hot topic that’s refused to fade even through the long years.

In fact, some consider her a billion-dollar asset to the UK fashion industry, with her proven track record of enormously influencing consumer behavior.

“We’ve seen the Princess of Wales have a huge impact on brands, often referred to as ‘the Kate effect’. What makes it so powerful is that it has always felt genuine she chooses brands she truly likes or wants to support,” Nicola Pink, founder of PR and marketing firm We Are Pink, said of the Princess’ influence.

Royal warrants, in case you’re wondering what they really are, are like royal seals of approval that are issued for up to five years. They allow companies to display royal arms in connection with their business activities. Under King Charles’ reign, for a company to be eligible, they will have to display a rock solid sustainability policy.

This December, nearly 400 companies received Royal Warrants in the new batch issued by the King and Queen, following Camilla’s first warrants in May, which included Fortnum & Mason.
