While the spotlight is something that is coveted by so many people across the world – me too, duh – the Prince and Princess of Wales are more focused on their charities, patronages and royal duties than the tantalizing glare of a camera.
As proof, the Princess of Wales has instructed us – the loyal royal fans – to stop looking at her wardrobe and start paying attention to the work she champions. I do agree to disagree with this sentiment; we can certainly multitask, and by the way, her Early Years campaign is something that I feel we need to discuss more. But on a later date, yeah?
Now? We’re talking about a former royal aide who has seen it fit to provide us with some details about the couple’s approach to royalty.
The Prince and Princess of Wales’ Former Communications Secretary Shares the Couple’s Genuine Reaction To Fame
William and Kate’s former communications secretary Jason Knauf recently shed light on what truly matters to the couple and what doesn’t.
Knauf claimed that despite being among the most recognized public figures in the world, fame and celebrity are two things the royal couple don’t care for.
“They’re not that interested in the fame and celebrity that comes with it,” he told 60 Minutes Australia. “In fact, not really interested at all.”
In a world where public figures are expected to embrace media attention, William amd Kate remain the odd ball by choosing to remain a private couple. “They’re out there doing their jobs, but for the right reasons,” he said.
If there was a choice to do away with fame completely, Knauf believes they would take it, but since they realize they need some form of media exposure to keep on promoting the works they’re doing, they’ve happily embraced that reality as well.
Speaking on how the duo manage their public image and how it could be different from their private lives, he confidently said, “With both of these people, the prince and the princess, what you see is what you really get behind the scenes as well.”
After working for the couple for several years, Knauf left his full-time role as a royal staff in 2021, though he still retains his spot on the board of trustees for the Earthshot Prize.
Despite moving on from his royal role, anyone can easily see that he remains a willing supporter of the Waleses and happily showers them with praises wherever and whenever he gets a chance to.
