Show of hands if you think “accountability” Harry suddenly considering the notion of a settlement in his case against The Sun Publisher is disturbing?
Yeah, I said disturbing because Harry has always been vocal about why he’s not settling, and now it seems that he and Lord Tom Watson are going the way of Hugh Grant and many others.
Anyway, maybe he doesn’t want to take the stand for four days of brutal cross questioning that may find him revealing Royal Family secrets he may have need to keep to himself. So, what’s all the settlement buzz about?
Prince Harry “Very Close” To Settlement With News Group Newspapers Following “Very Intense Negotiations”
Eager fans were surprised to find that Prince Harry’s NGN lawsuit’s opening trial was postponed due to both parties working on a behind-the-scenes settlement.
Speaking for NGN, Anthony Hudson KC said: “Both parties are in complete agreement… The number of times the parties have been in agreement in this litigation are very few and far between.”
Hudson further declared that Harry and NGN “have been involved in very intense negotiations over the last few days and the reality is we are very close.”
On the other hand, David Sherborne, the barrister for Prince Harry and Lord Watson revealed: “Mr Hudson and I would not be asking for further time if we did not think it stood any prospect of potentially saving a lot of court time.”
The trial was set to begin at 10.30am on Tuesday, Jan. 21, but was delayed twice to 2pm before a request was made by barristers for both sides for a third adjournment until 10am on Wednesday.
The presiding judge, Mr Justice Fancourt refused the parties’ permission to challenge his decision not to adjourn at the Court of Appeal. However, they could choose to make a bid directly at the Court of Appeal itself.
Speaking of being “very close” to settlement, news emerged the very next day that Prince Harry has decided to settle his legal pursuit out of court.
In an unprecedented move, the publishing house issued an apology for the stress they caused when they intruded on his personal life.
