Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can’t seem to catch a break in 2025. First off, this is the year it’s been rumored that their Netflix contract will expire. Not just that; it is also said that the streaming giant has no interest in renewing.
And of course who can forget the behemoth backlash they received for touring the damage left in the wake of the Palisades Fire? Now there’s another thing disturbing their waters, and it’s not even the rumors of Meghan Markle testing the waters to see how well a Prince Harry divorce book would be received.
The couple’s million-dollar deal with Penguin Random House is said to have “quietly dissipated.”
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Have Reportedly Lost Their Publishing Contract With Penguin Random House
After a so-so performing children’s book and a massively successful memoir from yours truly, Prince Harry, fans are no doubt looking forward to what the Sussexes will write next.
Speculations on what Harry and Meghan could write range from cookbooks, another royal memoir, Meghan Markle cashing in on the royal memoir train, and so on and so forth.
This may seem harder to do now that their multi-million dollar contract with Penguin Random House is no more.
Page Six recently broke the news, and weighing in on this on TalkTV, Kindey Schofield said: “Page Six is reporting that Harry and Meghan’s 20 million [dollar] deal with Penguin Random House , that they signed in 2021, seems to have quietly dissipated and that is the story…”
The royal expert added: “Vanity Fair is clear and communicating the fact that this is a theoretical pitch that someone on Meghan’s team was making ‘if there’s ever a divorce, how much do you think this book would be worth to you’. They were very clear on that.”
The fact is that Penguin Random House had brought the couple under their umbrella because they had high expectations of them.
However, these expectations kept falling through. “[Vanity Fair reported] how these two, their work ethic is incredibly questionable, their collaboration skills are not so strong, is that potentially why Penguin Random House no longer [has a deal with them].”
If Penguin Random House didn’t get anything from the deal, they did get an instant bestseller in the way of Prince Harry’s ‘Spare.’
Just saying.
