When you’re a fish in a sea of fishes, your value sort of decreases. This same applies to Harry and Meghan, who have found a home in the gated community of Montecito, California. The problem is that there are other famous faces around – the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Jennifer Aniston – and it’s rubbing off their star power.
To add salt and pepper to the wound, The Sun launched a survey to see how the general public currently views Prince Harry and Meghan Markle five years after they quit their roles as senior members of the Royal Family. Over 41% of the jury opted to call him just another celebrity. “He’s a commoner” came second in the list that included the option, “yes, he’s part of the royal family.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Aren’t Happy About How Their Neighbors See Them
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are trying their best to swim with the biggest fishes in the pond and the result isn’t a very happy one. Royal author Tom Quinn recently opined that Harry and Meghan “hate that they aren’t seen as true A-listers” in the area where they live.
“The truth is that Meghan and Harry hate the idea that they aren’t seen as true A-listers in Montecito,” royal expert Tom Quinn said.
“They will have seen recent surveys published in the American press that claim the couple’s star is on the wane; that people have simply lost interest.”
You can’t say it’s actually anybody’s fault. Hollywood is awfully popular in the five minutes of fame department, and I’m sure Harry and Meghan had fun while it lasted.
Montecito Residents Don’t Bat An Eye About Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
In a previous report, The Sun wrote about speaking to a resident of the area, who said: “We leave Harry and Meghan be. There are loads of famous people around here so no one bats an eyelid about two more rich people.”
The beginning of the Sussexes’ American Dream was something of a page ripped out of a fairytale. It didn’t take long after they landed in America for them to secure lucrative contracts with giant Hollywood platforms – think Netflix and Spotify. There was also the book deal with Penguin Random House.
Spotify was the first to kick them to the curb, with a chief calling them “f**king grifters.” Their Netflix contract will reportedly expire this year with the streaming platform said to have no interest in renewing the contract. As for Penguin Random House, it was reported they quietly dropped the couple.
Worse comes to worse, I guess Harry can get a pretty good deal by selling movie rights to his bestselling book ‘Spare.’
