Meghan Markle is pushing on with her Archetype podcast, despite the huge challenges she endured shortly after its first season released. For one thing, it was negatively received by critics and Spotify pulled its funding without looking back.
For a while, Meghan tried to shop it around to Spotify competitors, before landing on the lesser-known, albeit female-founded, Lemonada. There, Archetypes found a new home, and it’s now ready to grow.
Lemonada Teases New Episodes As Meghan Markle’s Netflix Cooking Show Gets Right Around the Corner
I think this is a classic example of strike while the iron is hot. Lemonada is apparently looking to draw from any success Meghan Markle’s Netflix show, ‘With Love, Meghan,’ will have with their decision to follow it up with new Archetypes episodes. I know there are fans that will be over the moon to hear this piece of good news.
The platform seemingly teased new episodes from the Duchess’s podcast by sharing a collage of pictures from their hosts – one of them a snap of Meghan – and boldly announced, “New Year, new episodes.”
In the caption, they added: “We are so back! With new episodes of Fail Better, Boneheads, Pop Culture Debate Club and more coming out this week, which podcast are you excited to listen to this week? Let us know in the comments below!”
Obviously, fans jumped on the hint to take it that Meghan Markle’s podcast was returning.
One fan wrote: “Are we getting Archetypes?”
Another added: “More from Meghan?”
“I enjoyed Archetypes. I wish there was a Season two,” a third fan gushed.
The Reception Archetypes Received During Its Original Release
The jury was in almost as soon as the first episode of Archetypes dropped. Writing for The Times, James Marriott said of Archetypes’ first episode: “The Duchess of Sussex’s almost entirely preposterous new podcast Archetypes promises to ‘rip apart the boxes women have been placed into for generations’. On the evidence of the first episode – an interview with Serena Williams – it won’t really do this at all.’”
Celia Walden thought the podcast didn’t go further than Meghan Markle talking about Meghan Markle.
Walden said: “The podcast is an interview with this inspirational sporting figure in name only. If the rest of the season is anything like the premiere, what we’re really going to be listening into week after week is Meghan interviewing herself.”
