A prominent character on TLC’s Sister Wives, Meri Brown, recently expressed her annoyance with her ex-husband Kody Brown’s position about the distribution of their joint property, Coyote Pass.
Meri revealed in the most recent episode, which aired on January 19, that Kody believes she does not have a right to an equal portion of the land even if she has contributed financially.
Sisterwives Spoilers – Meri Brown Encountering Opposition on Discussing About The Coyote Pass
Co-owned by Kody, Meri, his second ex-wife Janelle Brown, and his surviving wife Robyn Brown, the Flagstaff, Arizona property has been a source of continuous conflict.
Meri disclosed that she encountered opposition when she tried to discuss the property’s future while seated with her closest friend Jenn Sullivan at her Utah residence.
“You sent that message to everybody and said, ‘Guys, we need to talk about the property, we need to do it by this day,’” Meri said. Although Janelle showed interest in the discussion, Kody’s response was dismissive, claiming he had already been speaking to “all the right people.”
“You are the right people!” Jenn exclaimed, echoing Meri’s sentiment. “That’s exactly what I told him,” Meri responded.
Despite her efforts to clarify the situation, Meri remains unsure of Kody’s plans. “For all I know, he could be making moves to sell the property without our knowledge. Literally, I have no idea what is happening.”
In a confessional, Kody acknowledged the email exchange but downplayed its significance. “I was really nice in that email,” he said. “I’m not trying to stall. These are ex-wives asking me to do a favor, and I’m tired—I have a lot to do.”
Janelle Brown, another co-owner of Coyote Pass, echoed Meri’s worries. She admitted she wouldn’t be surprised if Kody was pursuing a deal to sell the land without informing them.
“He could potentially be talking to someone about selling it out from underneath us,” she said in a confessional. “I don’t know because he’s not communicating.”
Sisterwives Spoilers – Unequal Distribution Of Land
Adding to Meri’s frustration, Kody once suggested that she only deserved two acres of the property due to having just one child, Leon Brown, now 29. By contrast, Janelle has six children, and Robyn has five.
He said, “Well, you don’t need as much because you don’t have as many kids”, Meri revealed. Despite paying an equal share of the land, Meri feels shortchanged and unappreciated.
Jenn Sullivan voiced disbelief at Kody’s reasoning. “You paid equally. You paid equally. I’m just…holy crap!” she said. Meri added that her financial contributions extended beyond the property, covering college tuition and car payments for many of the family’s children—though not for Leon. “The family funds didn’t cover Leon’s college or car payments,” Meri said. “I paid for those myself.”
Kody dismissed Meri’s concerns in a separate confessional, attributing his decisions to the challenges of managing a large family. “We had 18 kids to take care of,” he said, brushing off her claims.
Sisterwives Spoilers -The Legacy Of Coyote Pass
Coyote Pass has long been a contentious issue for the Browns. The property was originally intended to house multiple homes, enabling the family to live close together. However, as Kody’s plural marriages unraveled, disputes over the land became more pronounced.
Kody’s marriages to Meri, Janelle, and Christine Brown all ended within 14 months. Christine was the first to leave in November 2021, followed by Janelle in December 2022. Meri and Kody officially ended their marriage in January 2023.
