Meghan Markle isn’t aware that criticizing cookware is still a thing in this our lovely 2025. After her Netflix show, ‘With Love, Meghan’ dropped, the Duchess received backlash over her choice of cookware.
You see, the Le Creuset brand she used to prepare her delectable meals was very expensive that it was deemed above the pay grade for many of her audience, which features a high percentage of black women. In her defense, many black women fans started posting their own range of Le Creuset online.
Meghan Markle Brushes Away Cookware Controversy With These Words
Meghan Markle welcomed NYT Food reporter, Julia Moskin, into her home for an exclusive conversation. During their chat, they talked about Meghan’s passion for making food rooted in family history and her relationship with cooking.
Her mother Doria Ragland was said to be present and provided extra commentary on her daughter’s upbringing and lifestyle before she became the duchess we know today.
In the middle of chatting about recipes and all, Moskin informed the Duchess about the Le Creuset controversy that enveloped her show, asking her to share her take on it. The perplexed duchess was said to have replied, “This is a thing, in 2025?”
Doria, 68, added: “Everyone is coming in hot these days.”
Turns out the Duchess was unaware of this particular controversy because she leaves the monitoring of online conversations to her team.
MSNBC journalist Michele Norris was one of the people that came to Meghan’s defense amid the controversy.
The journalist shared in Threads: “Why is anyone surprised or disturbed that she would have beautiful color coordinated cookware? Does anyone drag Ina or Martha for their cookware? Sure it would be nice to see a big heavy well-seasoned black skillet up in there. But did anyone expect that? So Yes, Le Creuset is beautiful but it is not merely performative cookware.”
However, speaking from her Montecito kitchen, she told NYT that she launched the cooking show ‘With Love, Meghan’ because “I need to work, and I love to work. This is a way I can connect my home life and my work.”
