Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been harshly criticized for their attempts to help victims of the wildfires in California, which has left them allegedly surprised and hurt.

According to an insider who spoke to Page Six, these allegations are “offensive” to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. This is especially true given that Meghan views Los Angeles as her home and is heartbroken by the devastation the fires have caused.

Sources close to the couple shared that they were “stunned and appalled” by the backlash. Speaking with Heat World, an insider noted, “It confirms what they already knew to a big extent—that they can’t win, no matter what they do. Their haters will always be out in force, finding any way possible to tear them down.”

For Meghan, the criticism strikes an especially personal chord. “This is her home city burning to the ground, she wants to help, and yet by doing that she’s still getting treated like garbage,” the source explained.

While Harry has been a source of support, encouraging Meghan to “turn the other cheek and keep their side of the street clean,” the ongoing negativity has undeniably taken a toll on both of them.

The source added, “It’s so twisted in their minds that it makes it harder to ignore. Instead, they’re left shaking their heads, feeling deeply unfairly treated.”

Delayed Projects Amid The Crisis

Adding to the complexity of the situation, the release of Meghan’s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, has been postponed. Initially slated for an earlier date, the series will now debut on March 4.

A source told People that Meghan felt it was inappropriate to release a show centered on joy and hosting while so many in California are grappling with the loss of their homes. “Delaying the release was likely an easy decision for her. Critics suggesting otherwise fail to understand the human aspect of what we’re all dealing with,” the insider shared.

Despite the backlash, Meghan and Harry remain committed to their causes, determined to focus on making a difference while weathering the storm of public criticism.
