Katy Perry left American Idol but said she might return. However, it seems that’s off the cards now. The news that arrived recently counters her promise to be back after making some music and going on tour.
Not Coming Back?
The Sun US reported this weekend that Perry doesn’t miss being a judge at all. In fact, she won’t even watch it. Of course, the current season brings Carrie Underwood, who is now a replacement judge. However, it seems she won’t need to vacate her seat any time soon on the show.

A source close to the singer claimed that “Katy doesn’t even watch show so she hasn’t seen Carrie.” In fact, because of her break, “she feels more like herself now than she has in years being a pop star. She is a pop star to the core and her team all felt like the show was holding her back, she felt that too.”
Some people claim they won’t watch the show because they don’t like Carrie’s politics. However, it doesn’t seem like that’s why Perry won’t watch. Actually, she felt that Carrie would be good as a judge. So, she is making a clean break and wants to just make her music, something she was born to do.
A Drop In Popularity
Before leaving, Perry’s popularity went down. She faced criticism because she seemed less interested in the contestants. Meanwhile, others slammed her over a lawsuit involving a dementia patient. Then she ran into problems with environmental laws while filming a video in Europe.
Even some of Katy Perry’s songs found some backlash. In particular, Women’s World upset a lot of people because of her collaboration with producer Dr. Luke, who was accused of sexual assault. Of course, that made some people feel the song did zero to empower women.
Going To Space
Katy’s latest venture is going into space with Gayle King and other females. Once again, it seems to be an act that empowers women. Hopefully, it’s more successful than her song that got so much backlash. When she dropped the song, plenty of people slammed her for it.
On her YouTube account, one critic said, “This is incredible; she managed to make something both the Left and the Right can hate for different reasons.”
Another unhappy listener wrote, “The trucks, the explosions, the boobs, the whiskey…. This is the most male gaze thing I’ve ever seen in my life.”
Here’s another comment: “This feels like a parody of feminism gone wrong.” And, the parody was the one thing that Katy Perry used in defence of it.
