Princess Kate’s alma mater apparently treated her so well that she’s gotten Prince William on board as to the wisdom of having all three of their kids school there.
This means that the Waleses are likely to break another royal family tradition by not sending their children to Eton – the posh school where Prince William and his brother Harry spent the majority of their formative years.
Here’s everything we know about the Waleses’ decision to pass up Eton for Marlborough College.
Prince George To Reportedly Attend Marlborough College In A Truly Shocking Move Away From Royal Tradition
When it comes to breaking a few royal traditions – notice I said “a few” – the Prince and Princess of Wales are your people. The parents of three are apparently dedicated to making sure their children’s needs and future comes first.
This has meant that the kids have largely lived a life away from the public eye, apart from the few odd public outings with their parents here and there.
To ensure that the children enjoy as normal an upbringing as possible, the couple opted to move to Adelaide Cottage, where they reportedly prefer to live without staff members.
This move was apparently a big one for the family at the time, since they came down from Kensington Palace with its gigantic rooms and multiple staff members.
So in keeping with their desire to have their children experience a sense of normalcy, William and Kate are reportedly looking forward to sending them to the £59,000-a-year school in Wiltshire over the prestigious Berkshire-based Eton College.
At present, George schools at Lambrook School with his younger siblings, but will be leaving it when he turns 13. When that time comes, Palace sources have revealed that he will be following in his mother’s footsteps by attending Marlborough College.
Of course there’s still the security details to tackle. “The parents have been talking about nothing else and discussions have really ramped up in recent weeks but security is obviously a massive consideration,” the Palace source told The Mail on Sunday.
If George does attend Marlborough College, he will become the first male heir to attend a co-educational school.
