In mere seconds, as Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Sonny return, after stepping out briefly, they are met with the horrifying sight of the penthouse in flames and Michael on fire!
Sonny had been talking with Michael about his impending divorce from Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) when Jason arrived.
Jason had something to discuss with Sonny and told Michael to wait for them as they went out to discuss their business, down the hall.
They barely left the room when the explosion happened-Michael looks out the patio window to see a bright light, and in minutes the penthouse explodes in flames!

Is this explosive revenge or a targeted hit-if so, who’s the intended target? Sonny and Jason quickly return, hearing the explosion, and see the flames, and hear Michael screaming for help!
Previously, Sonny had confided his issues with atrial fibrillation (AFIB) to Jason, and asked him to take over the mob business-Jason told him he couldn’t.
With Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) an obvious concern, he did confirm Sonny needed to slow down; he holds Sonny back from rushing into the burning room.

In the back of his mind must be Sonny’s heart condition, and the last thing anyone wants is both Michael and Sonny dying!
Previous season previews by the show’s showrunners do seem to indicate Michael will live, although he’ll be badly burned-and offscreen.
That’s likely because portrayer Chad Duell is taking a break in real life, but the door is left open for his return for a time-the question is, why the attack?
Michael’s gaze at the bright light coming towards him, the roof on fire, and yet a force inside the penthouse blowing the patio windows open from the inside hints a double strike.
Apparently, there may have been a bomb or bombs inexplicably planted inside the penthouse, and possibly a drone with explosives coming from the outside!
Just before the explosive fire at the penthouse, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) moved into Wyndemere and looked out a window there with satisfaction.
Could Sidwell have something to do with this attack, and something launched from Spoon Island, possibly challenging Sonny’s territory? Or is it explosive revenge by an enemy, or a targeted attack by forces unknown?
