General Hospital spoilers and updates for Monday, January 20 tease an inauguration day reminder, wise warnings, and a mother’s support.
Monday will be preempted in the USA for continuing news coverage, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) issues a wise warning, and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) gives Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) her full support.
In the United States, ABC news plans continuous coverage of the inauguration of President-Elect Donald Trump, the 47th president.
Even though it starts in the morning, GH, as all US soaps on broadcast networks will be pre-empted. Canadian viewers will likely get a rerun although we don’t have a synopsis.
Should the inauguration day coverage plans run shorter than expected, likely either local programming or a GH rerun will fill in the gap. No new episode will be available later on HULU or on the ABC.com website, but this episode previewed will instead be shown Tuesday, January 21.

Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) agreed to allow Carly and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) visit Michael in the GH ICU burn unit and be in the know about his medical status.
She and Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) discussed putting Michael in a burn unit at Johns Hopkins, a major teaching hospital, and Carly suggested the clinic in Germany.
Willow agreed to let Michael make the choice, even though bringing him out from under anesthesia would cause him horrible pain-it should be his decision.
As Carly is talking to Michael about it in his room, Willow is in the hospital chapel with Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison).
She wants to know if she ruined her chances of getting Wiley and Amelia Corinthos (Viron Weaver, Serenity and Sequoia Mork Macko) back.
Friday’s episode showed Drew playing hardball and having Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) arrested at the Quartermaine mansion, flanked by Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight)!
Now, in a questioning area she argues, probably with Anna Devane, (Finola Hughes) as Martin looks on, screaming “when are you going to get that you’re backing the wrong horse!”
She appears to be in a waiting area, however, as she’s not in the regular questioning room when someone’s suspected of a crime, nor is she cuffed.
But she’s definitely angry and trying to tell the PCPD their business and probably pulling the money card.
Tracy didn’t have the right to speak for the children yet she was holding them at the estate, and claiming they were with Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) when they likely weren’t.

Now it appears Anna has another suspect she’s questioning, unless she’s talking to Martin or Tracy-the person is wearing a black garment-and so was Tracy!
She asks if the person is the one who put that device in Sonny’s house, causing the explosion that Michael caught on fire from!
That should go over well with Tracy, who’s already mad as a wet hen-Anna doesn’t care if she’s a Quartermaine or the queen of England! If she broke the law she’s guilty-and hiding children whether she’s their great great aunt or not doesn’t make any difference!
In the Deception Office, Maxie has wise warnings for Natalia Ramirez, (Eva LaRue) who looks extremely concerned.
No doubt by now she’s heard about the explosion that destroyed Sonny’s warehouse and severely injured his son.
Sometimes Sonny’s reputation and his “other businesses” have brought on a lot of danger, and this was obviously one of those times.
Maxie tells Natalia it’s not safe to be in someone’s orbit, and she must be talking about Sonny. Sonny and Natalia have had a borderline romantic relationship for quite some time now.

In the meantime, Ava Jerome (Maura West) has tracked down Sonny, who’s staying elsewhere for the time being-she argues with him, telling him to do the right thing for their daughter.
She tells him, in fact, to do the best thing for their daughter before it’s too late, worried about Avery Jerome-Corinthos’ (Ava and Grace Scarola) safety. If she hadn’t been elsewhere when Sonny’s penthouse was bombed, she could have been also injured or worse.
In the meantime, it’s obvious Sonny is being stressed by Ava’s arguing-he’s starting to have chest pains! He apparently has some nitroglycerin pills likely prescribed by Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson) but what he really needs is surgery-possibly a pacemaker.

It was obviously very painful for Michael to voice the choice Carly asked him to make. This would about possibly going in a burn clinic in Germany where he could possibly be totally restored to his pre-burned self.
The preview clip doesn’t show his answer, but spoilers tease Carly thanks Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure) for something.
Offscreen, Brennan had secured a place for Michael in the German clinic where some of the Boronsky Clinic doctors now were practicing. She tells Michael, “then that’s what we’re going to do” so perhaps he agrees to go to Germany.
