It is clearly going to be one of THOSE weeks in Port Charles. In case you’ve missed a bit, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) was badly burned when a device exploded in Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Bernard) penthouse.
He is badly burned and his family is fighting not just to save his life, but also to get him the best possible care for any potential recovery.
Michael’s estranged wife, Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) was thrilled to learn that a bed has become available at Johns Hopkins Hospital, one of the very best in the country.
Sending him here would also mean that Michael’s family can be with him as he recovers. His mother, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), had a totally different idea. She wants to send her son to a clinic in Germany that may allow him to recover with less scarring.
The family has decided to wake Michael, despite the excruciating pain, to allow him to decide where he will go to begin his long recovery. Everyone is at least in agreement that it should be Carly who speaks to Michael.
Carly enters her son’s hospital room and once he realizes that she is there, that’s when we see how much pain Michael is actually in. It’s hard to imagine him being able to communicate anything at all through has grappling with the agony.
Will he make the choice or even understand what is being asked of him? Will the family end up deciding where Michael gets his care? We aren’t sure of any of that yet.
The one thing that he does say quite clearly is Sasha Corbin’s (Sofia Mattsson) name. The two shared a drunken hookup the night that Michael realized Willow was cheating with his uncle, Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison).
That same night Sasha realized that she couldn’t be with Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) because being part of the Scorpio family means that they are related.
Sasha had just told Michael that she is pregnant right before his accident. He had agreed to keep his distance and not to be an active part of their child’s life. So why is Sasha’s name one of the first things he is able to say to Carly? More importantly, why?
Is he just trying to clue her in to the fact that Sasha is pregnant? Or is there more to it? The two exes went their separate ways years ago when Michael decided to build a life with Willow. In a recent confrontation with Willow, Sasha said that she regretted ever letting Michael go.
Could Michael be feeling the same way? Could this life-and-death crisis have made Michael realize that he actually needs Sasha?
