General Hospital spoilers and updates reveal Chris McKenna (Jack Brennan) recently addressed his ongoing role and the noticeable shift in Brennan’s Australian accent.

When McKenna stepped in for Charles Mesure in February, audiences were certainly surprised by the abrupt transformation.

Chris McKenna Has A Very Different Look And Vibe Than Charles Mesure

McKenna undeniably presents a distinct appearance and energy compared to Mesure, making the transition to his portrayal quite an adjustment. Perhaps the most surprising change is McKenna’s absence of an Australian accent!

On X, previously known as Twitter, Chris McKenna has been sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes insights and responding to fans’ pressing questions about GH.

Interestingly, McKenna had discussions with the show’s executives about the possibility of adopting an Australian accent, as he is capable of doing so. Having successfully used an Aussie accent in a past role, he seemed willing to embrace it for the character of Brennan.

Chris McKenna Can Do All Kinds Of Accents

Chris shared an interesting tidbit: “I can perform various accents (check out my audiobooks/podcast), including Australian (State of Affairs episode 6)”.

When I was cast, there was some talk about using an accent, but in the end, the decision-makers chose to let me be myself,” McKenna shared in his post. He understands that it was a significant adjustment for viewers, but he believes the decision was the right one.

“While it may have been surprising for the audience, it was the best choice; please bear with me; it will be worth it,” McKenna reassured any fans who might still have doubts.

We should commend McKenna for his recent performances alongside Laura Wright (Carly Spencer)–from the intense moments between Brennan and Carly to the heartfelt scenes at her hospital bedside following the poisoning incident.

Chris McKenna’s Definitely Finding His Brennan Groove

It seems McKenna is really settling into his role as Brennan and building a stronger on-screen connection with Carly, which is great to see!

He’s also handling the WSB drama very well, and we were convinced by his darker portrayal of Brennan when he faced off against Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart). As McKenna makes the character his own, many fans are curious about his status on the show.
