Martin’s Funeral Will Be An Emotional Occasion
Martin’s family and friends are bracing themselves for an unexpected day – his final farewell in Walford. Feelings are intense, and his adoptive daughter Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) is doing her best to support her younger, heartbroken siblings.
Meanwhile, their mother Stacey returns home inebriated after being away from the Square for several weeks-Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) steps in to help Stacey regain her composure, offering her comforting words.
When Stacey expresses her reluctance to attend the funeral, Sonia is taken aback. However, it appears Stacey may reconsider, as photos reveal her standing with her children in the church.
The Funeral Continues
Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) and Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) prepare themselves for the day ahead, while Ross feels concerned for Vicki and decides to attend the funeral to offer his support.
Martin’s coffin is carried through the market he loved by his cousin Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), Peter Beale (Thomas Law), and friends Zack Hudson (James Farrar), Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), and Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman).
During the emotional service, Martin is laid to rest, with his eldest daughter Bex Fowler (Jasmine Armfield) leading the attendees into the church.
Martin’s aunt and godmother, Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth), is also seen delivering a eulogy, visibly heartbroken as she struggles to finish her speech.
As Martin’s closest family and friends grapple with the reality of life without him, it’s still hard for us to accept that he is truly gone.
Ross Schemes
Ross decides to attend Martin’s funeral, despite Sharon’s objections, as she believes it’s unwise due to Alfie’s anger towards him.
However, Ross is determined and later attempts to mend things with Sharon by apologizing for upsetting Alfie- Sharon, however, makes it clear that she won’t be swayed by his charm.
Meanwhile, Ross receives a mysterious phone call and becomes focused on convincing Vicki to extend their stay in Walford.
He is determined to keep her there, even though Vicki is already arranging her return flights to Australia. After failing to persuade Vicki to remain, Ross tries to manipulate Ian into convincing her to stay longer.
Grieving Stacey Clashes With Ruby And Lily
Lily’s anger towards her mother, Stacey, intensifies throughout the week as she feels abandoned when Stacey suddenly left-at Martin’s wake, Ruby confronts her own feelings of anger and resentment towards Stacey.
Later, Stacey encounters Ruby at the allotment, resulting in another heated exchange.
As new revelations threaten to ruin any chance of reconciliation, will Ruby discover that Martin’s true love was for Stacey, not her?
Meanwhile, Lily turns to drinking, encouraged by Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James), but when Stacey returns, she finds her daughter intoxicated. Stacey attempts to reconcile with Lily, but her efforts are unsuccessful.
Martin’s Stall Is Set On Fire!
Things take a turn for the worse when Stacey finds out that Martin’s cherished fruit and vegetable stall has been burned down. Martin’s family is shocked by the devastation, and Stacey assures Lily that she will uncover who is responsible for this terrible act.
Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) advises Stacey to let the police handle it, but Stacey soon feels she has enough proof to confront the person behind the fire.
But is she correct, and who actually set the stall ablaze-as the week wraps up, Ruby decides to leave Walford, as her relationship with Stacey has become unbearable.
Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) pleads with Stacey to stop the conflict and focus on healing, but when Stacey tries to talk to Ruby, Zack informs her that Ruby has already left.
