‘DOOL’ Comings and Goings: Billy Flynn OUT at DOOL Headed To Y&R!

Days of our Lives (DOOL) news reveals the stunning announcement made today that Billy Flynn is leaving his role as Chad DiMera in order to take his talents to a competing soap.

The news came out of nowhere, shocking daytime fans, some of whom speculated that he may gravitate to the newest soap, CBS’s Beyond the Gates.

That’s not the case, but Flynn is indeed joining a drama in the CBS lineup. Here’s what to know about this dramatic daytime switch up!

Flynn is departing Days Of Our Lives and joining the cast of the number one rated soap, The Young And The Restless. He has spent ten years portraying Chad DiMera and is one of the fans’ favorite actors.

What we do know is that Flynn will create a brand new Y&R character, he is not a replacement nor playing a character who has been on before. Fans can expect to see the handsome and talented actor debut in Genoa City this spring.

Billy Flynn Speaks Out About Transitioning

Billy spoke to TV Insider about the switch up saying that he is “grateful for my years at DAYS; it changed my life in the best ways. I’ve always said these stories we tell are like doing a play, and I’ve spent the last 10-plus years playing this amazing character and telling one of the all-time great love stories. And now I’m excited for this opportunity and to test myself in a new way.”

The question on everyone’s minds is: what happens next with Chad DiMera? There is no indication of the character’s trajectory. We will have to wait and see if the show hires another actor or if the character remains on the canvas.

Executive Producer Ken Corday stated that the show gave the actor their blessing to leave: “We support Billy as an actor and friend, and wish him nothing but continued success and happiness, personally and professionally. He will certainly be missed in Salem.”
