California wildfire news reveals that several daytime stars have been affected by the devastating wildfires currently burning out of control in southern California. Several wildfires broke out last week in the greater Los Angeles area, including Pacific Palisades and Pasadena.
As of this writing none of the three major wildfires are contained, and vicious winds are expected in the coming hours. Here is the latest news about actors from daytime dramas who have suffered tragedy.
California Wildfire News – Eric Braeden Lost His Home
B&B and One Life to Live veteran Joe Lando lost his home, as did Y&R’s Eric Braeden (Victor Newman). According to Braeden, Joshua Morrow, who plays his onscreen son Nick Newman, helped him learn the unfortunate news.
The actor was with ET when he first saw his burned-out house, and he teared up looking at the ruins of the place he called home for 45 years.
“I didn’t think it would hit me this hard” he said. “You know when you watch TV, and you see all this news coverage of all these people losing their homes? I understand now. It’s such a feeling of loss.”
He compared the ruins to the bombing he experienced growing up in Germany during World War II and vowed “You’ve got to rebuild.”
Braeden and his family were able to take their passports, pictures, and some papers, before they left.
LA Wildfire Donation Scams
Sadly, GH’s Cameron Mathison is one of many entertainers who lost a home to the wildfires. He has also warned fans not to donate to phony GoFundMe accounts and other fraudulent sites pledging assistance to victims.
In a video on Instagram he wrote “Thank you for all the love and support to our family and the 1000s of people affected by these fires.”
“PLEASE DO NOT DONATE TO A GO FUND ME PAGE using my videos or photos!!! It is not us. We are not asking for money. Unimaginable that someone is using this disaster to rip people off. Stay safe. Sending love and support to all those affected🙏🏼💔❤️”
CBS Soap Actresses Lose Homes
B&B’s Jennifer Gareis (Donna Logan) is one of many actors who lost a home and she documented the carnage on Instagram: “I had no idea this past weekend was my last beach walk and sunset in Malibu…at least until we can rebuild the community after this devastating fire.”
She added “Thank you for your messages. Our home is gone (see picture #3) but we are safe. I pray for all of the families who have lost their homes and memories. Stay safe! #malibufire #pchfire #malibubeach #palisadesfire.”
Several stars shared their sympathy, with The Young and The Restless’ Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman) sending crying and heart emojis, Courtney Hope (Sally Spectra) writing “I’m so sorry 😞 I’m glad you’re safe ❤️” and Kate Linder (Esther Valentine) writing “I am so very, very sorry! Thank goodness that you and your family are safe!”
Later Gareis shared several quotes: “‘Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.’ – Desmond Tutu” “‘Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.’ – Victor Hugo” ‘”In the midst of darkness, light persists.’ – Mahatma Gandhi”
Y&R star Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson) also lost her new home in the Los Angeles wildfires and explained her loss in her Instagram stories: “Thank you so much to everyone for reaching out. We are safe. Thank God. All that matters.”
“But we just bought a house in the Palisades 2 weeks ago that is now destroyed. We hadn’t moved in yet, but it’s gone.”
She added “We are just grateful that our babies are safe, but we are devastated, and this is all so horrific. Grateful to all the incredible first responders.”
