Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) thinks she was right all along. Now that Sharon admitted to what she thinks is the truth, Phyllis is soaking in as much daytime light as possible. Even her nemesis, Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell), was forced to tell Phyllis that she was right, adding about this one thing to the comment.
However, Stafford’s rarely restrained character isn’t revealing the contents of her recovered flashback. Phyllis was looking at her phone rather than the road when a vehicle that didn’t appear to be Sharon’s hit her head-on.
Some states have rules against using your smartphone while driving. It’s uncertain how or if the laws for driverless cars are affected, but Phyllis wasn’t in the driver’s seat of that type of vehicle.
As flashback scenes show, Phyllis was distracted by a series of texts that appeared to be coming from Sharon. Her phone was seemingly stolen by Jordan Howard (Colleen Zenk), who exacted the ruse.
Jordan and Ian Ward (Ray Wise) set up Sharon in multiple ways, including making Phyllis believe that she wanted to see her at the cabin. That led to Phyllis driving recklessly to the cabin while Sharon was also driving nearby.
Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) is certain that Sharon isn’t guilty of everything she’s admitted to. He doesn’t know exactly how to prove her innocence but is starting with a review of her medication.
Michael Baldwin’s (Christian Le Blanc) involvement elevates the issue. His contact with Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) is relevant because Genoa City, Wisconsin’s restored lead detective doubts Sharon’s role in these horrid crimes.
At this point in the plot, it appears that Jordan and Ian carried out a scheme to manipulate Sharon’s medication. That presumed plan likely allowed them to direct what she did on the fated night in question and probably to frame Daniel.
Phyllis is multitasking. She believes Sharon is destined for the slammer while also agreeing to partner with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson).
Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is Billy’s target because of the recently completed Chancellor takeover. Phyllis is ready to help him go after the Moustache because of the many offenses Braeden’s character has committed against her loved ones.
So, Billy’s firing of Phyllis earlier this fall at Jill Abbot’s (Jess Walton) behest only temporarily ended their connection. That’s good news for the audience because both actors demonstrated great potential, with their legacy characters renewing efforts to right wrongs in GC.
