Y&R Spoilers: Peter Bergman Sounds Off About Controversial Overdose Plot

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Peter Bergman is talking about how his character Jack Abbott risked his life, and plundered his sobriety, for Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott).

The plotline is red hot, and fans are deliciously divided as to whether Jack is a jerk or a hero. The May 2 episode was a standalone of sorts, featuring only these two characters.

The scenes were gut wrenching and both actors could win Emmy’s for their first-rate performances. Here’s what the actor himself has to say about the controversial storyline.

Jack is Nikki’s AA sponsor and last week he made a rushed decision to save her life by drinking with her. Wait, it gets better.

Jack also called his dealer and had a special delivery made to Nikki’s GCAC suite. Yep, Jack purposely threw away years of sobriety to save his ex.

When Jack’s wife Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) learned of this, including the fact that Jack OD’d and had to be saved by the paramedics, she was livid.

Y&R Spoilers – Jack Abbott Is A Fool?

Bergman talked to Michael Fairman TV about Jack’s decision: “As it was presented to me, it was the story of Jack going too far to help Nikki. When I got the script and saw that it was one of those great, ‘the tables turn,’ suddenly you’re on the receiving end.”

He added that Jack tried everything he could think of to help Nikki, but she was not receptive. Is this a case of the ends justify the means? It depends on how you look at it. Nikki was scared straight and is now in rehab. But at what cost to Jack?

Bergman thinks that Jack “knew what he was starting, and then it went too far. Jack knew he wanted to shock her into sobriety, shock her into clarity, and he went too far, and he’s going to pay for it.”

Fans are split over Jack’s actions, with some thinking he was selfless to sacrifice himself and others calling Jack a jack***.
