Y&R Spoilers: Nikki’s Drinking Causes MS Flare Up, Medical Emergency Causes Chaos For Newman Family

Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers indicate that since the lake house debacle, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) has struggled to stay sober.

No one can really blame her, after all, she was forced-fed vodka through an IV at the time, and since the entire traumatic event, Jordan (Colleen Zenk) has been a torturous thorn in her side. Is there any hope for Nikki finally ditching this dangerous habit once again, for good?

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Nikki Newman Can’t Help Herself

Y&R spoilers note that it’s been one dramatic turn of events after another since Jordan entered Nikki’s life.

From the stalking to kidnapping, killing her AA Sponsor Seth (Brian Gaskill), and now taking Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell); Ms. Newman has been on a roller coaster ride for months.

Unfortunately, while Nikki is trying with all her might, she can’t refrain from consuming alcohol, despite all the support she’s received from family and friends.

The next step would have to be rehab, but, a medical emergency might be the very thing that jolts Ms. Newman into sobriety.

Y&R Spoilers – Alcohol & MS Don’t Mix

Nikki was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in early 2013. The good news is through her diagnosis, she has been able to control the condition and slow down its progression.

Under normal circumstances, Ms. Newman keeps her health as a top priority; however, with recent events, she’s likely allowed a lot of things to slip – mainly, her alcohol consumption, but she’s probably not keeping as active as she generally does due to the drama and stress.

Alcohol can cause an increased risk of MS flare-ups and excessive drinking overall can cause a person to fall off regular routines like physical activity and possibly taking medication.

Could Nikki’s MS spiral in the aftermath of Harrison’s kidnapping? Could it be the next drama the Newmans have to worry about?
