She went to console Jack after Diane Abbott (Susan Walters), possibly soon-to-be Diane Jenkins again, announced her breakup. Nikki and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) were agitated by Diane’s unwanted conversation with them, but the Moustache was also considered an angle.
Victor has been plotting his multi-pronged scheme for months. He wants revenge against Jack for endangering Nikki’s life. All the involved characters and the viewers know that Victor is off base in his assessment, but he thinks otherwise.
Nikki had yet to learn that Victor was Glissade’s silent backer. But Jack’s revelation of that knowledge only happened because Diane told her and Victor about it, which resulted in the Abbott mansion visit. Did Victor anticipate that outcome?
Jack ensured that Nikki knew the details, telling her that Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) was his source. While generally untrustworthy, her termination and animus toward Kyle made Audra’s testimony believable.
Bee-lining to Newman Enterprises was a given. Victor’s defensive reaction and attempt to justify his behavior because of Jack’s perceived reckless actions earlier this year didn’t work. Nikki’s outraged, leaving fans to wonder if she’ll head Chancellor.
Jack became estranged from his son in recent months. It now seems that he’s lost his wife.
So, with Jabot being targeted by Victor, Jack has nothing to lose. Why not fight back hard against Victor?
Telling Nikki about Victor’s connection to Glissade and Jack’s use of pills to justify this latest attack represents a first salvo. Jack will only take Victor’s fight with a fierce, sustained response.
However, Jack fights from a temporarily weakened position. Kyle is thawing but hasn’t reconciled with his dad yet. Jack kicked Diane out, and he didn’t know she was pitching Victor.
Diane’s admission to Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) was stunning. While more plot needs to be seen, her reveal may have confirmed that Diane and Jack’s fight and break is real.
Assuming the above is true, Diane says that she loves her husband and son but also enjoys the power being co-CEO at Jabot offers. That makes her developing play highly intriguing.
Walters’ character says she wants it all. That means she will do what it takes to repair her relationship with Kyle, reconcile with Jack, and get Victor. Her pitch to work with him to pay back Kyle and Jack will likely be a ploy she’ll attempt to use to punish Victor and prove her loyalty on Y&R.
