Viewers have not been shown definitive proof that Sharon killed Heather. They also don’t know what happened before both ladies collapse on the floor of Heather, Daniel Romalotti’s (Michael Graziadei), and Lucy Romalotti’s (Lily Brooks O’Briant) apartment floor.
The wound Heather suffered, which happened because of her falling onto a piece of broken glass that Sharon had previously shattered, appeared to be fatal. But Sharon’s multiple daytime nightmares gave the audience pause.
Sharon believes she killed Heather, put the carcass in her car, drove to a river, and dumped it. Why she responded in that manner has not been explained.
Sure, panic would have ensued. But why would Sharon have thought to dispose of the contents of her assumed crime in that manner?
However, flashbacks imply that’s exactly what happened. So, with Heather not yet known to be missing, her body is lying at the bottom of a river somewhere near Genoa City, Wisconsin. Of course, Daniel and Lily’s realization of her disappearance will lead to an investigation.
The audience knows that Chance recently had it out with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). He became the latest casualty of Billy’s erratic behavior at the company he rebranded Abbott Chancellor.
Chance’s sudden desire to return to the police force is a natural fit with the need to investigate Heather’s disappearance. Devoted fans know that Heather’s father, Paul Williams (Doug Davidson), moved to Portugal after he and his wife, Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell), broke up.
It would be natural for Paul to jet back to GC to help with the search for his daughter. But some still fully unexplained reasons removed decades-long cast stalwart Davidson from the show in recent years.
So, the only known employee of the GC Police Department is its tech master, Kevin Fischer (Greg Rikaart). That’s why Chance’s stated desire to return to the force would allow him to take the lead in the imminent investigation into Heather’s disappearance and assumed grim discovery of her body.
If Sharon killed Heather in a fit of deluded rage, then her life would effectively be over. Even if she’s confined to a facility for the criminally insane, Sharon would not likely live outside of confinement for many years to come.
So, the audience is probably being kept in the dark. Eventually, more details that flesh out the moments before and after Heather and Sharon’s mutual blackout must be presented.
Sharon survives all of this if she is being set up. The possibilities for who would do that are also unclear and reflect purely random speculation at this point in what has become an engaging storyline that highlights Case’s milestone thirtieth anniversary on this great soap.
