Why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Will Receive More Security In NYC Revealed

Remember when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle complained of being relentlessly pursued by paparazzi through the streets of NYC last year and the world laughed? Well, it turns out they were right, and the photographers did indeed make their transport back challenging.

Not just that, Harry tried to use the reality of this to win his court case about needing round-the-clock police protection in the UK.

NYPD Provides Information On Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “High Speed” NYC Chase

Last year, Harry, Meghan and Doria Ragland attended an event in NYC and witnessed uncomfortable situations getting back to their hotel room due to photographers chasing them for photos.

“We found the following: reckless disregard of vehicle and traffic laws and persistently dangerous and unacceptable behavior on the part of the paparazzi during the night in question,” the NYPD intelligence chief wrote to the Metropolitan Police in London.

“Our conclusion, upon review with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, is that we have sufficient evidence to arrest two individuals for reckless endangerment.”

Per the police department, the photographers rode bicycles and scooters “in a manner that forced the security team … to take evasive actions on several occasions.”

In the aftermath of the incident, Harry and Meghan’s spokesperson released a message from the couple, declaring that the chase lasted for two hours with “multiple near-collisions” with other drivers, pedestrians and NYPD officers.

“While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone’s safety,” the spokesperson said in May 2023.

“Dissemination of these images, given the ways in which they were obtained, encourages a highly intrusive practice that is dangerous to all involved.”

As a result of this, Harry and Meghan have been offered more police protection whenever they do visit New York in the future.

Meanwhile, Harry recently lost his court case against RAVEC for increased security in the UK.
