Why Is King Charles Teaming Up With Football Legend David Beckham

Why Is King Charles Teaming Up With Football Legend David BeckhamWhen Prince Harry flew back to the UK in May to celebrate the tenth anniversary of his Invictus Games, it was announced that King Charles was too busy to see him.

In what was seen as a snub move, the King actually made time to see David Beckham a day or two later. Now, it’s been announced that the meeting was not a jolly meet and greet but was actually a formal business meeting. The result? The former football star has signed on as an ambassador for the King’s Foundation.

David Beckham – Signs On To Raise Awareness For the King’s Foundation And Further Educate A Younger Audience

Beckham kicked off this new month with the announcement that he’s officially become the new ambassador for The King’s Foundation.

Established in 1990 as the then-Prince of Wales, Charles wants the organization to create a kind of ecosystem where human beings can live with nature in a way that does not hurt either.

To achieve this, the foundation offers educational programs at workshops on site. Each year, around 15,000 students go through the courses provided by the foundation, with health and well-being provided for an additional 2,000 people annually.

The foundation also engages in regenerative projects across the U.K. and overseas to revitalize communities and historic buildings.

In light of this new appointment, Beckham shared, “I’m excited to be working with The King’s Foundation and to have the opportunity to help raise awareness of the charity’s work. I’ve always been keen to help young people to expand their horizons and I’m particularly looking forward to supporting the Foundation’s education programs and its efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature.”

“Having developed a love for the countryside, I’m also on a personal mission to learn more about rural skills which is so central to the Foundation’s work,” he continued.

“It was inspiring to hear from the King about the work of His Majesty’s Foundation during my recent visit to Highgrove Gardens — and compare beekeeping tips!” he added.

Fans of the sportsman will have often seen him gardening, as he documents his love for the activity on his socials, and he also shares the Princess of Wales’ love for beekeeping. So let’s just say his new role fits him.
