What Title Will Princess Kate’s Parents Get When She Becomes Queen Consort?

What Title Will Princess Kate's Parents Get When She Becomes Queen Consort?Okay, everyone wants to know what titles are befitting the parents of a Queen consort. Carole and Michael Middleton have always been so very close to the Royal Family, more so now that their daughter Princess Kate is receiving treatments for cancer.

When Prince William does become King and Princess Kate takes her rightful place as his Queen, what official roles will Carole and Michael then play in the monarchy?

Royal Correspondent On How Royal Titles Are Passed Down

Okay, once upon a time, Prince William and Kate Middleton used to be the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – they still are in a way (but let’s not get into that now).

However, with King Charles’s accession, they have moved one step closer to the throne and therefore are now styled as the Prince and Princess of Wales, or the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall.

While their daughter Princess Charlotte is set to receive the Princess Royal title from great-aunt Princess Anne, she will only be doing so when Anne passes.

But, according to Hello!’s royal correspondent Danielle Stacey, the chances that Carole and Michael Middleton will receive royal titles are very small.

“It’s very unlikely that Carole and Michael Middleton will be given titles, despite being the parents of a Queen Consort and this is all down to the rules around peerage titles,” she explained.

She continued: “A dukedom is a hereditary noble title which is the highest rank of peerage in Britain, and titles can be passed down from a parent or granted by the present reigning monarch. When Kate married Prince William in 2011, Queen Elizabeth II gave them the title of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.”

So if indeed they are granted titles, it would be an unprecedented move. While some of us may remember that the mother of Elizabeth the Queen Mother, Cecilia Bowes-Lyon, bore the titles of the Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne, they are not a reflection of her status as a Queen Mother, but rather gotten from her husband who was a member of the aristocracy.
