Days of Our Lives’s Gabi Hernandez is wasting away in Statesville prison being threatened by Clyde Weston, but how did she end up there?

For months, Gabi Hernandez (Camilla Banus) and Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) did everything they could to win controlling interest in DiMera Enterprises and that meant besting all of his siblings, including Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) and EJ DiMera (Daniel Feuerrigel).

They finally had the perfect blackmail scheme when they made it look as if Kristen abused her daughter Rachel Black (Finley Rose Slater).

Kristen signed over her DiMera shares, prompting Stefan and Gabi to trick EJ into signing over his.

The only other person they needed was Li Shin (Remington Hoffman), a man who was in love with and obsessed with Gabi.

After Gabi got Li to admit he had tried to kill Stefan the year before, she had the perfect blackmail material.

However, Gabi had one more thing to say to Li before she was willing to leave him alone for good.

Gabi didn’t listen to Stefan’s advice and went to see Li one last time and it really was the last time as she found him dead on the floor with a knife in his back.

When Stefan arrived, he found Gabi standing over Li with the bloody knife but she claimed he was already dead when she got there.

It soon turned out that Li was still breathing so Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) and Wendy Shin (Victoria Grace) rushed him to the hospital, but Tripp wasn’t able to save him. Before Li died, he named Gabi as his killer but Gabi still denied all wrongdoing.

That didn’t matter to EJ, the new district attorney. He could finally get back at his brother and his wife, so he sent her to Statesville right away. Somehow, she still hasn’t had a trial, so it’s hard to know if Gabi is being illegally detained or not.

When she does get out of jail, we expect her to go scorched earth on everyone involved with her imprisonment. Watch out EJ, because Gabi has an axe to grind.
