Top 4 Beloved Soap Opera Christmas Traditions Fans Look Forward To Every Year

December is almost here, which means the holiday season is around the corner. While the drama won’t cool down in the land of soap operas during this festive season, there are some annual feel-good Christmas traditions fans look forward to each year.
Below are the top 4:

The Bold And The Beautiful – Eric Forrester Leads Christmas Carol Singing

The Forrester mansion is always decked out in festive flair as the family, along with extended family members, gather on Christmas Eve.

That’s generally when Eric Forrester (John McCook) pulls a seat toward the piano to play some favorite Christmas carols, as friends, loved ones, and sometimes rivals, are welcomed to sing along.Top 4 Beloved Soap Opera Christmas Traditions Fans Look Forward To Every Year

Days Of Our Lives – The Hortons Gather To Trim The Christmas Tree

At this point, almost everyone in Salem has their own customized ornament for the Horton Christmas tree, although in the beginning this Days of Our Lives (DOOL) tree-trimming event, which takes place every Christmas Eve at the Horton home, was exclusive to family and their spouses, only.

The tradition is rich in history, dating back to 1966 when Tom Horton’s (Macdonald Carey) made seven original customized tree ornaments.

One for Tom, along with Alice Horton (Francis Reid), Mickey Horton (John Clarke), Bill Horton (Edward Mallory), Addie Horton (Patricia Barry), Marie Horton (Maree Cheetham), and Tommy Horton (John Lupton).

The bulbs were shown from 1967 to 1970, and then the first tree-trimming event occurred in 1971.

The rest, as they say, is history, and both Salemites and fans look forward to the Horton tree-trimming party, every year.

General Hospital – Story Telling Time

General Hospital (GH) puts all the drama on hold for but a mere moment as the younger patients at the hospital are gathered, along with the GH kids, as ‘Santa’ reads “The Night Before Christmas” for all the children.

During earlier years, Dr. Steve Hardy (John Beradino) would read the story, then Dr. Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon) took over, and Edward Quartermaine (John Ingle), Dr. Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson), as well as others, have filled in since.

Last year, Dr. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) teamed up with Mayor Laura Collins (Genie Francis) for the fan-favorite Christmas event – so who will step up to the plate this year?

The Young And The Restless – A Special Christmas-Inspired Episode

It’s always fun when the Young and the Restless (Y&R) does standalone episodes for characters, but the holiday-inspired ones truly help dive into character development while also highlighting the magic of the season.

In the past, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc), Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), and more recently, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) have had holiday specials where the show places a spotlight on Christmas classics like “It’s a Wonderful Life” or “A Christmas Carole” with a Genoa City twist.
