The Golden Bachelor spoilers reveal that the first couple to ever be on the show has filed for divorce. After three months of being married, Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist have called it quits.

When they were asked about their marriage and how they always said that love would find a way, the couple was quick to open up.

Theresa said, “I think maybe it’s part of the fact that we are older and we do have homes and we do have children and we do have grandchildren- and I’m not saying it’s impossible that the love can’t overcome that, but it did play a major role.”

They brought up the fact that a “commuter marriage” wasn’t exactly what they wanted from this relationship either.

Gerry even mentioned that a commuter marriage isn’t what they saw as an option and they tried to do everything that they could to stay together, but it just wasn’t working with the distance between them.

They had started talking about divorce for weeks and it was a mutual decision. They both brought up the fact that there was never any fighting and that they were always on the same page when it came to the marriage and how it was going to end.

The Golden Bachelor Spoilers  – Their Love Story

Gerry appeared in the first season of The Golden Bachelor after his daughters told him that it would be a good idea for him to try and find love again. Gerry dated a lot of women to finally win Theresa’s heart.

They got married on the show in January, but they never moved in together. It seemed that the distance was really hard on the two of them and they didn’t feel as if they were married because of it.

Now that Gerry and Theresa have gone through this, it puts a lot of things into perspective for anyone who wants to appear on a show like this one.

Due to their ages, it seems nearly impossible to make a long-distance marriage work. At least these two were on the same page when it came down to it.
