‘Sister Wives’ Is Gwendlyn Brown Estranged From Christine?

Sister Wives fans wonder what is going on with Gwendlyn Brown and her mom, Christine Brown Woolley. Some TLC fans suspect that they are estranged, but others think that Gwen is a complex personality and she might find her mom too over-the-top. Read on to find out what might be happening. 

Gwendlyn Brown Went Quieter After Garrison Died

Gwen started her Patreon and YouTube podcast and she did exceptionally well recapping and putting her side forward. However, out of respect for Garrison, after he passed away, she stopped doing it. Meanwhile, her mom, Christine Brown still talks about Kody on social media. Maybe they are two very different personalities. 

Gwendlyn Brown has some issues with her brother, Paedon, while her mom seems close to her only son with Kody Brown. So, again, it seems that she differs from her mom. Not every child is exactly like their parents in every way. But, it still makes Sister Wives fans wonder if there’s a problem between mom and daughter. Especially as she ghosted Christine’s wedding to David Woolley. 

Is Christine Estranged From her Daughter, If So, Why?

On Reddit this week, u/InevitableVersion263 talked about Christine Brown’s fourth child after Aspyn, Mykelti, and Paedon. They asked other Sister Wives fans:

Did Gwen always not follow Christine on instagram? I noticed Gwen follows Meri & Janelle but she doesn’t follow Christine…I know she didn’t go to her wedding and all but I saw that Christine still follows her. Just curious if it’s been like that for a while or it’s new?

As it has been discussed by TLC fans in the past, and other members of the family chatted about Gwendlyn Brown and her mom on occasion, there were some well-informed responses.

Most people agree that there is some sort of problem between the two TLC stars, but “estrangement” might be too harsh a term for it. Here are some ideas thrown there:

• Perhaps [Gwen doesn’t] follow her on Instagram because she posts about the show/her & David’s reactions. Gwen shut down her reactions on her Patreon after Garrison passed and she may just be distancing herself from the show as much as possible.
• Kody has described [Christine] as someone who always wants to talk about the relationship when they’re alone and it gets to be too much. Interestingly we now see her doing that to Janelle and Janelle getting frustrated by it.
• I think the girls love their Mom, and she loves them, but all of them need a great deal of counseling to help them have a good relationship…
• Christine is really too much with the kids sometimes. They love her… but she is too much for ME. I can’t imagine being with her in real life. She was the cheerleader for polygamy and now that she has left Kody is all bad and David and marriage to him is PERFECT… She also relies on her children too much.
• Gwen and Ysabel have both spoken publicly about their problems with Christine, one of them talked about [co-dependency] and boundary crossing.
• It’s a form of enmeshment that occurs when parents use their children for the emotional support system that their adult partner would typically provide. I can understand why the kids would feel that way regarding Christine. She talks to her kids about a lot of things that she should have talked to an adult about…
