Prince William Will Soon Introduce His Children To Africa

When it comes to conservation and the protection of the natural environment, you’ll find Prince William at the forefront.

Some may say he gets his love of the environment from his father, King Charles, who was a strong believer in organic farming long before it became cool, or from his grandfather Prince Philip, who was one of the earliest drivers of a prototype electric vehicle in the 1970s.

You could even argue that he gets it from the late Queen Elizabeth, who champions COP26 and banned the use of plastic and straws on royal estates. Whoever he got his love of the environment from, it’s clear that he got some worthy mentors to show him the way.

That is why one of the earliest organizations he became a patron of nearly 20 years ago was the Truck Trust.

Truck Trust CEO Says Organization Is “Lucky” To Have “Knowledgeable” Prince William On Their Side

Founded in 1990, Truck Trust is an organization that seeks to protect and preserve animal life in Africa through funds that protect the African lion, rhinoceros and elephant species across the continent.

As a result of the issue being near and dear to his heart, Truck Trust became one of the first organizations that he put his name and stamp on immediately he came of age. The organization usually hosts galas to help raise funds to support their mission in Africa.

According to Tusk Trust CEO Charlie Mayhew, the money raised at the gala is used in supporting “the work of wildlife rangers across Africa and also the rollout of our environmental education program.”

Speaking of Prince William, who teamed up with the organization in 2005 when he was just 23 years old, Mayhew admitted that he does bring a lot to the table.

He said: “He is very knowledgeable and passionate about conservation and the environment. He has a particular love for Africa. He has been incredibly supportive as our patron and proactive in supporting us. We find ourselves incredibly lucky.”

As Prince William heads to Cape Town, South Africa, to host his fourth annual Earthshot Prize Awards, Mayhew shared his hopes of meeting him there. He also thinks it won’t be long before William is ready to introduce his children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – to the beauty of the continent.

“I think it won’t be long before, you know, he will want to introduce them to Africa,” he said.
