King Charles waited over seven decades to become the monarch, so anyone can understand why he’s so hellbent on getting a lot done in whatever time he’s got left.
Sadly, his cancer diagnosis is not allowing him to fulfill this mission to the max. Nevertheless, he’s managed to push himself through his chemo treatments to continue attending to his royal duties.
That is, until the doctors had to step in to tell him to pace himself. This also affected his hopes to tour New Zealand in the fall. The good thing is that he’s got a worthy heir to stand in for him in the way of Prince William.
On Friday, September 13, Prince William made a stop at RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire and took in the Sovereign’s Parade on behalf of his father.
Apart from commemorating the day, the location also holds a special place in William’s heart for being the place where he earned his wings nearly two decades ago.
“It is my great honor to be with you today, representing my father, His Majesty The King, to mark this significant milestone in your lives and careers,” he said. “I am delighted to see so many family and friends here—I know their love and support will have been instrumental in getting you to this point. Whilst I didn’t graduate on this exact Parade Ground, I did graduate from flying training here so I know something about the celebrations that will come later, so I promise, I’ll only take a few minutes of your time!”
He further showed gratitude to the people whose strength and resilence made the union possible.
“I do want to take this moment though, to highlight not only the importance of your achievements to date but also that of the roles you will play in supporting the futures of your countries’ Air Forces,” he said. “I say ‘your countries’, as I know that in addition to our newest Royal Air Force officers on parade today, there are also officers from Jordan, Kenya, Pakistan, and Uganda. Multi-national relationships are key to international defense, security, and peace.”
In other royal news, Prince George has taken to the skies for the first time aged 11 and former staff members are creeping out of the woodworks to accuse Meghan Markle of being a vile bully. More on this to come.
