2024 is not Prince William’s year, and I suspect it’s the same for most members of the Royal Family. It’s insane when you remember that King Charles and Princess Kate were initially in the hospital for minor surgeries, before the discovery of cancerous cells.
Amid the uncertain times already faced by the family, the internet had to add their own brand of chaos to everything, with a million speculations about Kate’s whereabouts starting to pop up online.
This eventually forced Kate to reveal her diagnosis and chemotherapy treatments, before she was truly ready to prepare her children for what it would be like for the world to know.
Needless to say, this year has been a stressful one for the Waleses, and Prince William recently got candid about how disorienting everything has been.
Prince William Says “Everything Has Been Difficult” In Rare Vulnerable Moment
Prince William is taking things one step at a time, and even though he’s happy several of his projects are now significantly underway – the Homewards documentary revealed important ways William is helping to end homelessness and Earthshot Prize’s fourth gala recognized the most brilliant solutions to earth’s pressing problems – his personal life has not been easy.
“It’s been dreadful. It’s probably been the hardest year in my life. So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult,” he revealed to the press during his last day in South Africa.
He added: “Prince William said: “I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been brutal.”
Royal author Robert Hardman remarked on the family’s “extraordinary year” on BBC’s Today programme.
“It’s been a hell of a year – there he (William) is on the one hand helping his wife through a very serious illness, and he’s also expected to stand in for his father who is suffering from cancer,” Hardman, author of the recently released royal biography, ‘Charles III: New King. New Court,’ said.
