Prince Harry's Reaction To Meghan Markle Mocking Her First Curtsy To Queen Was One of DiscomfortPerhaps royal fans weren’t the only ones who were made uncomfortable by Meghan Markle re-enacting the curtsy she apparently performed in front of the late Queen Elizabeth during their first meeting.

According to a body language expert, Prince Harry was affected by the “mocking” show put on by Meghan and signalled for it to stop.

While curtsying to your boyfriend’s grandmother may not be in your bingo card, it was a lived experience for Meghan Markle, who did not fail to recall the moment without some derision.

The important meeting, which Meghan ridiculed on her and Harry’s Netflix docuseries, ‘Harry And Meghan,’ happened when she and her then-boyfriend Harry were having lunch with.

Princess Eugenie at the Royal Lodge and heard the Queen would soon be paying them a visit. At the time, Harry said he prepared himself to brief Meghan on how to receive his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth.

“How do you explain that to people? How do you explain that you bow to your grandmother? And that you will need to curtsy. Especially to an American. That’s weird,” Harry recalled on the program.

“Now I’m starting to realise ‘This is a big deal’. I mean, Americans will understand this… We have medieval times, dinner and tournament. It was like that,” Meghan said, going on to do an exaggerated curtsy so the audience can understand what she means. “Pleasure to meet you, Your Majesty,” she said giggling.

When the camera showed Harry’s face, he was far from smiling about the development. That’s because, as Body language expert, Judi James, revealed the moment brought Harry some “discomfort.”

“Meghan is the more chatty and natural speaker during their interview and here she sits talking confidently and readily in a slightly gossipy style as though talking to a girlfriend she is keen to amuse,”James said.

“Her joke is self-effacing as she speaks about her curtesy when she first met the late Queen. Her smile becomes asymmetric, pulling up on one side to register a shared joke. Harry, however, is already watching her carefully, turning to gaze at the side of her face with his own facial expression looking less turned to ‘fun’ than hers.”

Speaking on the exaggerated curtsy that took Meghan 8 seconds to perform, James said Harry held his unamused face through the whole “joke,” only to give a mirthless laugh at the end.

She noted: “As Meghan mentions ‘Your Majesty’, the direct reference to the late Queen, it does seem a small step too far for Harry who quickly drops his head down to perform a cut-off ritual that partially hides his face, suggesting some discomfort at this point.”
