Prince Harry’s Invictus Games To Have A Permanent Center In Abuja, Nigeria, For Veterans

Prince Harry has just announced his intentions to build a lavish Invictus Games center in Abuja, Nigeria.

This comes after he and his wife spent three days touring the Western African country and promoting their charities Archewell and Invictus Games.

Prince Harry – Says Seeing the Plans For New Invictus Games Center In Nigeria “Gives Me Goosebumps”

During the trip, Harry saw plans to the future haven and spoke about the innovative project, which is meant to help injured veterans recover both mentally and physically.

A description of the planned center reads: “The Invictus Centre stands as a testament to the unwavering courage and fortitude of wounded, injured or sick soldiers, offering them a sanctuary of healing, hope, and empowerment.”

Harry was assured that the new center would reduce the stigma that exists around injuries and said so during a panel held by the Chief of Defense Staff General Christopher Musa.

“This is what the new centre you’re building is all about. Seeing the plans for the new Invictus Centre gives me goosebumps,” the Duke, 39, said.

Harry also took the time to praise the Nigerian veterans who participated in the last Invictus Games, saying that they “represented their service and this country, extraordinarily – won medals and came back with smiles on their faces.”

The architect assigned to the project, Kobina Banning, said of the impressive project, “This space will be a healing place for veterans.”

Since Nigeria has the highest serving army in Africa, he revealed that the center will be made to give hope to those who serve.

“It will help them heal but also is telling them they are not being left alone,” Kobina added.
Apart from the concept, architect Kobina also wants the design to be a part of the healing process. He said the “timeless beauty and functionality” will allow soldiers to experience a “transformative journey of healing, hope and renewal.”

The center will boast of indoor and outdoor gyms, as well as spaces to meet friends and loved ones.
