Prince Harry may not have loved many things about being born and being raised a royal, but he did love spending Christmas with his family at Sandringham. It was one of the things he spoke fondly about on the Netflix docuseries ‘Harry and Meghan,’ which featured him and wife Meghan.
However, even though the Spencers have invited him to spend Christmas at Princess Diana‘s childhood home, he’s likely to decide to spend it at their Montecito mansion. Or even break in the new Portugal home. One place he will not be spending it is Sandringham, because he hasn’t been invited. Poor Prince.
Royal Expert Claims Prince Harry Feels “Lonely and Estranged” As Christmas Approaches
Prince Harry once said that he’d love his children to know what a jolly good UK Christmas is all about.
However, with his security case not yet concluded, and the fact that he hasn’t even received a family invitation, it’s possible that the 40-year-old Duke could put off bringing his little ones over to enjoy a proper English Christmas for another year.
According to former royal correspondent Emily Andrews, “Prince Harry is keen to spend the Christmas holidays in the UK with his wife and children — but Meghan wants to stay in the US. It’s a tricky time for Harry — he hasn’t spent Christmas here for six years and he could be forgiven for feeling rather lonely and estranged from his Windsor relatives.”
Christmas is happier and more meaningful when spent with family, isn’t it? That’s why our favorite Christmas songs are about being with loved ones and even driving home to see family. Remember ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas?’
In total, Harry and Meghan have spent two Christmases with the extended Royal Family in their seven-year relationship. The first was in 2017 as an engaged couple, and the second was in 2018 as a married couple.
In 2019, they opted to spend it with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. The following year was when the great falling away happened, and since then, both sides have pretty much kept to themselves.
Emily added: “All the royals will gather at Sandringham in December, and I’m told that all the cousins, such as Eugenie, Beatrice, Zara and Peter Phillips, all look forward to the fun.”
Meghan is said to be especially against the idea of returning to the UK for Christmas, believing that the trip will not only attract negative press, but will be complicated due to not having a UK base.
