Prince Harry Suffers Fresh Blow As Major Charity CEO Quits

This year has seen the Sussexes lose staff members left and right, from their joint Archewell foundation, Invictus Games to other charities they founded or are currently under their management.

The rate by which they lost staff members led to rumors of a toxic work environment, which, according to The Hollywood Reporter, was confirmed by former staff members and even one that was still on their employ at the time.

Meghan Markle was branded difficult to work with and accused of belittling staff to the point of tears.

Now as the year winds up, Harry’s Sentebale charity has lost a key player; Chief executive Richard Miller. Perhaps this coming year will see them fare better in the retaining staff department.

Prince Harry and Sentebale Cofounder Release A Statement Announcing Richard Miller’s Replacement

Founded in 2006 by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso, Sentebale, whose name translates to “forget me not,” inspired by Princess Diana’s favorite flowers, caters to disadvantaged children.

In the five years that Richard Miller remained with the charity, he was based in London. However, his replacement has been confirmed to be based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

“This shift reflects our continued commitment to being guided by voices from within the region we serve,” Harry and Seeiso revealed in a statement. “We sincerely thank Richard for his pivotal role in steering our organization toward this important evolution.”

In his own personal statement, Miller revealed that his replacement was the “the logical next step” as the charity shifts to “local leadership.”

“Carmel is an incredible asset to position Sentebale further as a leader in the region,” Miller added.

Miller’s departure is coming on the heels of Andrew Tucker leaving his senior position after more than a decade in the role. That same month, Baroness Lynda Chalker, quit as a director after more than 18 years at the organization.

This more or less signals a significant internal reset at the charity organization, and perhaps a move to have more presence in Africa. It could also mean that the charity is looking forward to spending less on staff members.
