Prince Harry Causes “Concerns” In Phone Hacking Court Case After He “Deliberately” Destroyed Evidence

Prince Harry Causes “Concerns” In Phone Hacking Court Case After He “Deliberately” Destroyed EvidencePrince Harry is said to have “deliberately destroyed” potential evidence relating to his High Court phone hacking claim against the publisher of The Sun. This “troubling” move has prompted the judge to ask him to explain himself.

This will mean that Prince Harry will personally have to explain why and how drafts of his memoir “Spare” and messages he exchanged with his ghostwriter were destroyed “well after” he sued News Group Newspapers (NGN) in 2019.

Prince Harry Must Explain Why He “Destroyed” Evidence In “Troubling” New Development

Prince Harry has been found to destroy evidence that would have come in handy during his battle with publishers of The Sun over the phone hacking case.

In response to this, Mr. Justice Fancourt called it “troubling” that the Prince should knowingly delete documents and conversations which are likely to contain conversations relating to the case when the case was already underway.

He said that efforts must be made to recover these lost conversations that happened between Prince Harry and ghostwriter JR Moehringer.

The judge further ruled that the Duke’s legal team should write to Sir Clive Alderton, the King’s private secretary, and Sir Michael Stevens, his treasurer and keeper of the Privy Purse to get them to submit all records of communication with the Duke.

This new development is coming after Anthony Hudson KC, for NGN, opined that Harry likely knowingly destroyed evidence.

With a trial scheduled for January 2025, The Sun publishers have sought the release of emails as well as text messages and WhatsApp messages sent and received by the Duke, as well as material held on two encrypted hard drives.

However, when it came to that, it was realized that Harry has erased some of these information.

He told the court: “I have also seen troubling evidence that a large number of potentially relevant documents and confidential messages between the Duke and the ghost writer of Spare were destroyed some time between 2021 and 2023, well after this claim was under way.”

“The position is not transparently clear about what happened and needs to be made so by way of a witness statement from the claimant himself – what happened to the messages between himself and his ghost writer and whether any attempts were made to retrieve them.”

He added: “It seems to me inherently likely that matters would have been said which relate to the parts of Spare in which unlawful information gathering is discussed.”

The judge also said that Harry and his team don’t always understand ot have clear knowledge about the claims they’re making and are often without the evidence to back it up
