Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Source Reveal On Why Archewell Foundation Was Declared “Delinquent”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell charity is not in good standing with the authorities after failing to comply with rules that govern charitable organizations.
Per a report by Page Six, the foundation has been declared “delinquent” by the Attorney General of California.
The reason for this was that the foundation failed to submit its annual report and its registration fees to the registry of charities and fundraisers. As of right now, the charity has been ordered to stop raising or spending money until it does so.
The note adds, “An organization [sic] that is listed as delinquent is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct for which registration is required, including soliciting or disbursing charitable funds. The organization [sic] may also be subject to penalties and its registration may be suspended or revoked by the Registry.”
It is now left for Archewell to submit said documents and pay late fees if it wants to continue to function without restrictions. However, a spokesperson for the couple recently revealed that said documents were filed and submitted, but an error stopped it from going through.
Archewell did not know this until they received the notice to stop operations. According to the source, the new check has been sent in and the issue should likely be resolved within seven business days.
Apart from this road block, the foundation has been seeing a decline in recent years, going from $13 million in donations in 2021 to $2 million in 2022.
