Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Continued Relevance Explored By Royal Expert

Since the Sussexes left the Royal Family in 2020 and tried their best to establish a base in the US and find their footing in Hollywood, there’s been this interest in their lives.

It’s like people want to see how far they’ll go, especially since their first few months following their exit had been so promising; Netflix deal, Spotify deal, the whole works.

It seems like they were off to a running and beautiful start. But these days it doesn’t seem like they were able to maintain that level of relevance, with Spotify dropping them soon after Meghan’s podcast series Archetypes debuted, and there’s talks Netflix isn’t looking to renew their contract when it expires next year. Where will they go from here?

It was perhaps telling that Meghan Markle waited for Trooping the Colour to release a new offering from her brand American Riviera Orchard, especially since said brand went live on Instagram hours before the 2024 Princess Diana Awards ceremony took place.

Speaking to OK!, Former BBC Royal Correspondent Jennie Bond said: “I can’t honestly imagine that they are sitting there scheming to make announcements on the same day as a royal event. Surely they are bigger than that?”

She added: “It’s true that there have been some rather strange coincidences in the past about the timing of some of their announcements. But I think they are becoming less and less relevant to the news over here, and the Royal Family will command the attention every time.”

Richard Fitzwilliams, another royal commentator, revealed that there was “nothing accidental” about Meghan flogging her new products same day as Princess Kate was due to make her first public appearance in months.

He said: “The announcement of the new brand is totally consistent with the timing of all the Sussexes’ announcements.”

I guess at least they’re no longer complaining about the Royal Family, right?
