Nikki Garcia Opens Up Briefly About Divorce From Artem Chigvintsev

Artem Chigvintsev and Nikki Garcia were happily married and then suddenly they were not. After the Dancing With the Stars pro dancer was arrested for alleged battery, not everyone sided with Nikki. But now, she opened up briefly about their divorce. And, it hasn’t been easy for her. 

Nikki Garcia Fought With Artem In Napa

It was actually Artem Chigvintsev who called 911 when the two stars ended up in a domestic fight. Although the Dancing With the Stars alum was arrested, he was later released with no charges, as it seemed Nikki’s story of assault didn’t hit all the right notes. The next thing, just days after the fight in Napa where they’d celebrate their wedding anniversary, the news arrived about a divorce. 

Nikki Garcia didn’t hang about, and they quickly settled for a divorce agreement outside of the court. Actually, it’s all done and dusted already. Fortunately, for Artem Chigvintsev, the Dancing With the Stars alum will still see his son, Mateo. In the meantime, Nikki shut down her Instagram and went very quiet. But now, she opened up with her sister. 

Nikki Garcia Sees Herself As The Victim?

Speaking with Brie on the Nikki & Brie Show podcast, Artem’s ex said that she felt sad as she had been through “tough” times. Additionally, she explained her departure from Instagram as being a way to protect her son, Mateo. Furthermore, she described the breakup of her marriage as leaving her “heartbroken.”

Nikki Garcia also elaborated a bit more, adding:

You dream of having this family and you have this incredible love, and it just goes the other way. You go from having a great love story to having a terrible one…I disconnected from social media, from the world…I was going to do whatever it took …and then just needing space for healing, for facing trauma head-on.

Artem Chigvintsev Still Has Fans On His Side

When E! News shared about the podcast where Nikki Garcia spoke about the tough time she went through, she didn’t find many fans on her side. Instead, in the YouTube comments, some barbed reactions went her way. Definitely, most people feel for Artem Chigvintsev. Here are some reactions from Dancing With the Stars fans:

• How can you be heart broken and sad when you literally tried to take EVERYTHING AWAY from this man.
• The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. Her mom now has 3 divorces, her father has 6 children from 3 different women, her brother also divorced and several failed relationships.
• She is not innocent in this..
• HE called on you which means you were the abuser. People think only men are abusive, but women can be too. But of course, people will think because he is the man that he is an abuser. Which is why he won’t ever be asked to be on DWTS again as a pro!
• She only used him for a baby and then tried to isolate him from his own child. The fact that she went on the show to bash him and make herself the victim is very telling.
