‘Sister Wives’ Meri Brown Contradicts Christine On Breastfeeding

On Sunday, October 13, Meri Brown was featured in the first reasonably interesting episode of Season 19 of Sister Wives. In it, fans saw that Gabe Brown won’t talk to his dad again and they also saw a lot about kids and breastfeeding. And, Meri contradicted Christine Brown.

Meri Brown Helped With Raising The Kids

The latest episode got fans talking about Christine Brown’s daughter, Mykelti Padron because TLC sprung a bitten placenta on them without warning, and made many people gag. And, the subject matter of kids persisted when all of the OG wives and Robyn Brown talked about kids. 

Meri Brown only had one child, Leon, who opted to go trans and later married Audrey Kriss. In fact, most of the child-rearing seemed to have been credited to Christine Brown and Janelle, but Meri did her part too. Actually, it was Paedon Brown who claimed that she was an abusive mom.

Christine Brown Contradicted By Meri

People reminded TLC fans that in the latest episode, Christine Brown, Robyn, Meri, and Janelle talked about breastfeeding. Robyn Brown claimed that in polygamy, other wives sometimes breastfeed the kids that are not their own. She elaborated, saying that it’s done if needed and it highlights how the women help each other out. Janelle had also heard of it, but she never did it as she couldn’t produce “enough milk.”

Meri Brown and Christine differed because Christine reacted strongly when a producer asked about it. She said, “That is not true! No, that was a joke. That’s disgusting.” Conversely, Meri admitted that she breastfed another wife’s child. She said in her confessional:

I actually breastfed one of our kids that was not my own child. That was something that was kind of medically necessary at the time, but it wasn’t something that we did on a regular basis just for fun, just for kicks and giggles.

TLC Fans React In The Comments

Some TLC fans felt upset that the subject was raised and one of them said that they knew it was Janelle’s daughter, Maddie Brown who was breastfed by Meri. It seems strange that Christine forgot that as she married Kody the year before Maddie was born. Here are some reactions from TLC fans

• 100% normal occurrence, many cultures outside of the US do it today. Wet nurses are and always will be a thing, a good thing.
• Janelle and Meri talked about this long ago on the show. Meri fed Madison when Janelle wasn’t producing enough milk. They both talked fondly of the experience.
• As humans we literally drink another species’ milk so not sure why this is a big deal.
