Meghan Markle Could Return To Court Again For This Reason

Meghan Markle Could Return To Court Again For This ReasonUgh, this must suck. Just when Meghan Markle is thinking that she’s put that embarrassing defamation case with her half-sister behind her, she will likely face returning to court.
Here’s the lowdown.

Meghan Markle’s Win Over Samantha Markle Could Be Overturned As She Appeals

Earlier this year, Meghan Markle secured a win in the defamation case her sister brought against her. But it seems that victory could be short-lived with said sister making moves to appeal the case.

Per GB News, Samantha has taken the case to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeal and her lawyers have been given until the end of this month as deadline to fill their initial brief.

The court filings seem to show the new heading Samantha’s legal team mean to take.

The filings say “Cumulative inferences and remarks made by [Meghan] have caused a cumulative meaning, which the court did not consider.”

This is coming after the March 2024 victory Meghan secured against Samantha, who sued her for defaming her publicly with her claims she grew up as an only child and seeking $75,000 in damages.

In the ruling given by Judge Charlene Edwards Honeywell, Samantha “failed to identify any statements that could support a claim for defamation.”

Samantha was said to have been hurt by the way Meghan proclaimed that she only returned to using the Markle surname because of her links to Prince Harry during her tell-all Oprah interview.

She wrote: “That Plaintiff used one last name and then the name Markle soon after reports of Defendant’s relationship with Prince Harry were published is substantially true, based on the exhibits in the record, of which the Court has taken judicial notice.”

Originally filed in 2022, Samantha cited statements Meghan made during her interview with Oprah and parts of ‘Finding Freedom’ and the Netflix docuseries ‘Harry And Meghan’ to support her case.

In her conclusion the judge wrote: “Plaintiff’s claims will be dismissed with prejudice, as she has failed to identify any statements that could support a claim for defamation or defamation-by-implication by this point, her third try at amending her complaint, in either the book Finding Freedom, the Netflix series Harry & Meghan, or Defendant and her husband’s hour-long televised CBS Interview.”
