Since his cancer diagnosis, King Charles has tried to be open about his progress in the hopes that it might help other cancer sufferers and educate others.
Since then, his team has more or less kept fans in the loop about his treatments, even as he’s returned to the public eye.
For example, we know that his cancer was diagnosed in its early stages, even if we don’t know what type of cancer he’s suffering from.
However, since undergoing chemotherapy, we’ve been told that it tires him out, and that is why doctors have advised him to pace himself. This is also probably why his upcoming Oceania tour will reportedly be scaled back. Here’s all the new updates.
King Charles’ Cancer Treatment Causes Him To Lose Taste In Tongue
The newest update on his battle with cancer came in May as he visited the Army Flying Museum in Middle Wallop, Hampshire.
During the course of the day, he not only officially handed over his titles to Prince William, but revealed a side effect to undergoing chemotherapy.
“Mr Mapplebeck said he underwent chemotherapy last year for testicular cancer and lost his sense of taste – to which the King revealed this had also happened to him,” The Daily Mail reported.
At present, there’s no confirmation if this is a passing effect of the treatment or if it is permanent, and Buckingham Palace is yet to share any updates.
This, however, hasn’t stopped Charles from trying to keep up his duties as monarch, especially since his full-time return on April 30 when he was photographed visiting cancer patients and staff.
Since he’s still undergoing treatments, he’s trying his best to pace himself. For example, he gave a moving speech to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Invasion in June, but missed an event with President Joe Biden at Omaha Beach in Normandy.
On July 6, he took part in the celebrations marking the 900th anniversary of Edinburgh’s founding.
