King Charles' Cancer Treatments Will Cross Over Into the New Year

King Charles and Princess Kate may have been diagnosed of cancer at roughly the same time, but while the latter completed chemotherapy several months back, the King’s cancer is still a managed condition.

Responding to a question on how he’s doing during a recent engagement, he joked, “I’m still alive.” I guess that’s the news that matters, right?

Source Says King Charles Will Keep Receiving Treatments For the Foreseeable Future

Even though Charles’ cancer was said to be diagnosed very early on, he’s still not out of the woods yet and, according to reports, he will be continuing his treatments well into the New Year.

Palace sources recently revealed that “[the King’s] treatment has been moving in a positive direction and as a managed condition the treatment cycle will continue into next year.”

Despite this, there’s a sense of hope, as can be observed by the King choosing to have a packed festive calendar.

This year has been an especially trying one for the monarch, who managed to push through the illness to embark on planned foreign royal tours, like the one of Australia and Samoa.

Even though Charles tried his best to take care of all the things in his diary, his indifferent health condition meant that some royal outings had to be cancelled or scaled back.

Expert On the Available Treatment Methods For Cancer

While King Charles shared his diagnosis from the get go in hopes it will help others go for regular checkups and be more cautious about their health, he refrained from disclosing the type of cancer he’s suffering from and the type of treatments he’s receiving.

Speaking on this, Dame Laura Lee, chief executive of the cancer support charity Maggie’s – of which Queen Camilla is president – said, “It’s very common for treatment to be ongoing for very long periods of time, as is the treatment that the Princess of Wales went through, which is an intense period of treatment over a year, and then it comes to a point where it’s on an end, and she’s on that recovery from some of the impacts of her treatment.”

She continued, “So we’ve got immunotherapy, chemotherapy, surgery, hormone therapy. There are all sorts of different treatment modalities. And so it’s not surprising at all.”
