Josh Duggar Appeal Rejected By Supreme CourtThe Supreme Court rejected an appeal from reality TV star Josh Duggar on Monday, June 24 concerning his downloading child sexual abuse images case. The 19 Kids and Counting star was previously convicted in 2021.

Federal authorities looked into this after Little Rock, Arkansas police discovered child sexual abuse material that was shared on a computer traced to Duggar.

According to police, images were downloaded on a computer at the car dealership he owned, which depicted sexual abuse of kids, including toddlers. Duggar was sentenced to 12-and-a-half years in prison.

Duggar’s argument that lawyers should have been able to ask about prior sex-offense convictions of a former car dealership staff member who allegedly used the same computer, was rejected and the lower court has upheld Duggar’s conviction.

Their theory was that this former employee may have been responsible for the illicit material found on the computer.

The trial court refused to allow lawyers to introduce past convictions as evidence unless they could establish that the former staff member had access to the same computer.

19 Kids & Counting was canceled by the TLC network in 2015, shortly after allegations surfaced about Josh Duggar molesting four of his sisters and a babysitter, years before.

Authorities began their investigation after getting a tip from a family friend; however, due to the statute of limitation, potential charges had expired.

The oldest child of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, Josh resigned from his role at the Family Research Council, in 2021. The non-governmental organization’s mission is to “advance faith, family, and freedom in public police and the culture from a Christian worldview.”

When the news hit, Josh posted a statement on Facebook, stating, “Twelve years ago, as a young teenager I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret.” His parents stated in 2015 that he had confessed to fondling and privately apologized.

Josh, along with his parents and 18 siblings, rose to fame in 2008 thanks to the reality TV show that started off as “17 Kids and Counting”. The show ran for seven years.
