Inside Princess Kate’s Fond Relationship With King Charles

King Charles has been known to have a close and sweet relationship with his daughter-in-law Kate Middleton, so much so that the daughter-in-law could be shortened to daughter.

In early 2015, the then-Prince Charles had a falling out of sorts with his son, William, leading some close friends to complain that William refuses to bring their young son Prince George round to see him.

Kate reportedly played a vital role in smoothing relations over between Charles and William, and now the family is back to being a closely knit unit.

Princess Kate and King Charles’ Illnesses Reportedly Brought Them Closer

Even before their joint-cancer diagnosis earlier this year, King Charles and the Princess of Wales have always enjoyed the loveliest relationship. However, according to experts, their joint diagnosis in January helped strengthen that bond.

When King Charles and Princess Kate were admitted to the same London hospital in January to receive operations for varying conditions, Charles made the trip to see her in her hospital room. She was in for an abdominal surgery and he was in for an enlarged prostate.

Shortly after, they would both be shocked by a cancer diagnosis, and while Charles embraced it and was open about it, the Waleses opted to keep it low-profile.

The reason was to protect their children from the curious minds of other children until they were ready to explain it to them over the Easter break.

However, the hacking of Kate’s hospital records forced their hands, leading Kate to make a sweet video announcing the diagnosis.

Following the cancer announcement video, Charles made a trip the very next day to the Wales’ residence to have lunch with Kate. “They are very close and he thinks of Catherine as his daughter,” one source said.

His visit also helped, according to another source, who said: “They are two patients going through a common health experience. They are bound to have a close connection.”

Further suggesting Kate and Charles’ close bond is the affectionate way they address each other.

For example, according to a lip reader, Kate affectionately calls Charles ‘Grandpa,’ whereas Charles has been known to refer to her as “beloved daughter-in-law” and “darling daughter-in-law.”
